Some Points of Interest from the Pastor

By all accounts, the Dinner Dance beginning the Centennial Celebration of Saint Thomas was a huge success.  Almost 200 people came to celebrate the beginning of the year-long events which will mark the year ahead.  Much gratitude is extended to the Committee which worked on this event – many are saying “when’s the next party!” which is always a good sign.  For those not as fortunate to attend, please know that a full list of other events will be made available shortly.

By way of some advance notice, the next two events will be a
Women’s Day of Prayer on July 10, 2010 and a
100th Anniversary spin on the Parish Picnic, August 28, 2010.
It goes without saying that additional volunteers are needed for all these events.  A coupon requesting additional  volunteers will appear in the Bulletin toward the end of the summer.

Please join me in praying for the three men ordained to the Priesthood yesterday by Bishop DiMarzio.  In many ways, they will be serving a Diocese that is constantly in motion, (at least it is at Saint Thomas!) May they have the resolve to serve faithfully and lovingly in the model of the Good Shepherd.  Please remember to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life, and keep all those who serve the Church faithfully in your prayers.

Lastly, all parents are reminded that vacation from school does not imply vacation from Church.  We are blessed that a Catholic Church exists almost anywhere we might be traveling.  For those online, www.masstimes.org might be helpful.
