Some points of interest from the Pastor

Last Sunday’s celebration of Pentecost was most memorable.  Our recognition of the descent of the Holy Sprit on the Apostles was as visible in the red clothing of a great part of our parishioners at Mass, as it was at the most prayerful celebration of Confirmation at 3 in the afternoon.  As we heard in the Sequence for Pentecost, in the midst of very busy days, the Holy Spirit renews and refreshes those who call Saint Thomas their spiritual home.  Please continue to pray that the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit will continue to inspire our vibrant community of faith.

Permit me to express my gratitude to all who made this prayerful celebration possible. May our young people, and their families be inspired by our witness, not just on Confirmation, but each day of their lives.

Please join with us NEXT Sunday, June 6th as we celebrate the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ.  As a sign of unity, please consider joining in the 12:30 PM Mass which will be celebrated in Spanish, with readings, petitions and music in Spanish and English. (The reverse of what we usually celebrate for major feasts of the Church Year)  As Mass concludes, ALL are invited to process outside with the Blessed Sacrament as a visible reminder to our community of the abiding presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

Over the next two weekends, the Priests and Deacon will be speaking of the proper way to receive the Eucharist at Mass.  Please consider your preparation for receiving Communion and prayerfully listen to their directions for Eucharistic reverence at Mass.

Lastly, as we celebrate Memorial Day, please join me in remembering all those whose sacrifice has won, protected and continually provided for our Freedoms in our great Country of the United States of America.

May the unity expressed in the Eucharist be experienced by our individual and collective families.
